Half a billion (with a “B”) gallons of water a day create a crystal-clear river out of nowhere and half a million a year visit it coming from everywhere. COUNTRY FUN- The famous Withlacoochee Trail winds its way just 3 minutes from “Silver Dollar Sanctuary.” And if you love horses, there is nowhere quite like the World Equestrian Center. It’s the largest Equestrian Complex in the United States, and waits for you just 35 minutes away in Ocala, the Horse Capital of the World. The Goethe Forest with its many horse trails also beckon if you like to ride. Then there is Devil’s Den, an amazing underground cave and spring. Only occasional construction noise from across and down the street affects the quiet of the semi rural neighborhood with only 2 older couples as neighbors. OCEAN OPTIONS- A scalloping trip from nearby Crystal River to the beds just off our coast is unique summer fun that ends with a feast. Or spend an unforgettable day deep see fishing. HIDDEN GEMS- Crystal River and Dunnellon have many quaint shops to explore and special eateries to sample. They also host many fascinating festivals throughout the year. And several fine golf courses, including one 5 minutes away, are waiting for you to tee up and enjoy. MAGICAL KINGDOMS- A quick 90 minutes away waits Orlando, the top vacation destination in the world, and its magical delights of Disney, Universal and Sea World. The spectacular night life, cultural experiences and sporting events of Orlando, Tampa and Gainesville (1 hour to the University of Florida Gators) also make for truly endless options. ROMANCE AND PASSION- Dimmable string lights create the perfect ambiance for couple time in the secluded hot tub. Taking a dip together in the private pool can also be invigorating. TIPS FROM THE LOCALS *Manatees- “Swim with the Manatees” all year round because some of them make this their home. But the best time is when the large numbers come in from the Gulf in late November through April, peaking January and February. *Rainbow River- Kayaking and snorkeling in a wet suit is great all year long. With the water always 72 degrees, many prefer swimming and tubing April to September. *Private hot tub- Together and alone, cool and hot weather, day and night bliss all year long. *Swimming pool- Heated for your enjoyment during cooler months. *Scalloping- Starts at the beginning of July and goes through late September. *World Equestrian Center- Visit anytime but check their calendar for big events, usually in the winter. *Disney/Universal- Open 365 days, but locals go in March thru May, September thru mid-November, when the weather is perfect and the lines are short.
